About the event
Speaker: Richard Evanoff (Professor, International Communication and Ethics, AGU)
This presentation offers an introductory overview of bioregional thought and practice for researchers in the humanities. The presentation covers the history of the movement, the aims of bioregionalism, and how bioregionalism’s emphasis on cultural diversity challenges the current global paradigm, not only politically, economically, and socially, but also in the fields of philosophy and literature.
Richard Evanoff’s research and teaching focuses on international communication and ethics, including environmental ethics, in the School of International Politics, Economics, and Communication at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan. His publications include Bioregionalism and Global Ethics (Routledge, 2011) and the entry on "Bioregionalism" in the Companion to Environmental Studies (Routledge, 2018).
